Will AI be the death of developers?

There’s a lot of talk these days about AI, especially since the release of OpenAI’s chatGPT. As a result, many are wondering whether AI will replace developers, as chatGPT and AutoGPT have been shown to create functional code from requirements.

As someone who has been using chatGPT and GitHub’s CoPilot in my work, I can understand why people might have concerns. However, I don’t believe that AI will take over the role of developers anytime soon. Instead, I think it’s important to embrace this new technology and integrate it into our workday in order to optimize our productivity.

AI is not just another tool; it’s a significant advancement, akin to the introduction of the internet, computers, or smartphones. Failing to adapt to this new toolset could be a misstep in our path forward.

So let go of any doomsday scenarios and embrace AI as a tool to help you become better at what you do. Those who do not embrace this new technology risk getting left behind. Try out GitHub CoPilot and see how it can make you more productive in your work.

AI is not just another tool that is now part of our lives, General AI is a big step, in the scale of when the internet came, or computers or smartphones. And if you get left behind here, it will probably end up being a serious misstep in your path forward.

So let go of the doomsday look at AI, and embrace it as a toolset to help you be better at what you do. Otherwise you’ll get overtaken by the others that do embrace it.
